Transport for London are updating the Direct Vision Standard for Greater London.
That means new legislation for all around DVS. Upgrading vehicles will be compulsory.
This affects areas within the M25 – heavy goods vehicles will need to have excellent visibility all round. This is to help prevent accidents and deaths. The new Progressive Safe System will come into force in October 2023, and all vehicles will need to have 3-star rating or above.
Ensuring that your fleet has the necessary equipment to comply with the 3-star rating may take some time to sort. Adding cameras and other equipment to your vehicles may well be required. Although October seems a long way off, there is work which will need to be done well before that date – taking some of your fleet off the road. Make sure you are covered.
